Need help with water damage carpet stains?

We specialise in removing water marks and stains caused by water leakage.  Water damage carpet stains often leave a brown mark on the carpet after the water has dried.  This brown mark is caused by the colour from the carpet backing and dirt underneath the carpet, traveling up the carpet carpet fibre as the water evapourates.  This is process called wicking or browning.

In the past I have discussed call outs where customers have had water damage carpet stains from overflowing washing machines. However in this instance, it was a bath left to fill and then forgotten. Our very lovely customer was overseas and her kids decided to have a bath in her ensuite.  They began filling the bath and then forgot all about it until water began dripping from the downstairs ceiling! They threw down a few towels and called Mum, who then called us in a panic!  She had used our service many times in the past for carpet cleaning so she knew we were the best carpet cleaning company for the job.

As she was overseas and could not survey the damage herself,  she was very worried that she might have to make a home insurance claim.  We told her not to worry, and went to inspect the water damage carpet stains.

Water damage carpet stains need to be attended to quickly as mould can start to grow within 24 hours. We arranged to meet a neighbour at the property for access.  Then surveyed the damage, to determine if the customer needed to contact her insurance company.  Luckily, in this instance, we determined the damage to be minimal.  Most of the water had already evapourated, so we did not need to extract much water or use dryers on the carpet.  We were able to treat the carpet and stains with anti browning agents and an anti bacterial treatment.  These treatments stop mould and other nasties from taking up residence under the carpet.  Once the stains has been treated, we thoroughly steam cleaned the carpet and extracted the remaining residue.
